'Children's Games'
A series of gouache/poster paint studies entitled 'children's games'.
These paintings by Gavin Alston, c. 1955-58, were studies for future projects. He returned to this subject matter in his mural for Kingsridge Secondary.
The boys playing conkers remind me of Joan Eardley's (1921 - 1963) work. Both artists were products of the Glasgow School of Art. At this time figurative composition was of central importance in the training at Glasgow School of Art.
